Completed Day 6 of 100-a-day challenge.

Boy added 50 lunges to his totals.

I had made a decision to do 4 sets of 15 push ups... but forgot and did my first two sets at 25, which was excruciating. It means my final count for push ups was 80... which is a mixed blessing. On the one hand, I'm that much closer to getting to 100 push ups. On the other hand, having done 80 this time, I'm morally obligated to do at least 80 going forwards. I also did 5 sets of 25 squats, so I'm up to 125 squats.

Still only on 50 sit ups. Maaaaay increase that to 60 tomorrow, but we'll see.

Didn't get the tap replaced... ended up on a 1.5 hour phone call dealing with Provincial Intermediate Teachers' Association stuff. Did get a couple loads of laundry done. Going to try and call my Grandad tomorrow... Frazer was a good boy and phoned his Aunty Mary to check in on her today, and also called his brother to check in on him. His brother is still working - he's working on industrial construction, so there's a fair amount of distancing built in to his workplace. We just wanted to make sure that he was still doing okay, and that he remembered to call us if he needed any support if his work dried up due to Covid. With the recent support payments approved by the gov't he should be fine regardless, but Frazer and I are in the enviable position of both having stable and continuing jobs.

Speaking of work... finally got some communication from our School District about expectations for next week. Looks like we'll be getting some emails from our Principal, we have an online meeting at some point, and by end of the week, we should be starting to get in touch with our families. I've been emailing back and forth a bit with my Principal already, and we've figured out why I wasn't able to access the email list that would let me email all my parents at once. That is a feature of MyEd. (which I otherwise loathe with a passion) that I appreciate.

In other positive work news, my Union and BCPSEA finally came to an agreement; without the pandemic, I think we would have held out for more, but this is going to blow a hole right through the budgets of all gov't agencies, and with this much uncertainty for our profession over what work is going to look like over the next few months, I think both sides just wanted to get it out of the way. There's so much else to worry and work on... and in light of where we're at, all three levels of Union, School Boards, and Government seem to be coming together and working hard in a cooperative environment. The deal's a little better than the 2-2-2 that had been being offered, and has some important improvements for some of our classroom adjacent positions, such as SLPs and school councilors, and doesn't have a single one of the concessions that had been in the original employer proposal. Doesn't do much to close the salary gap to the rest of Canada, but at this point, I'll happily take it. Life is going to be weird enough over the next few years. If there's one thing this pandemic will do, it will be to highlight the importance of schools to the community.
